This is a very very funny advertisement. I would definitely give props to the creator of this idea because it is definitely a “thinking out of the box” idea. A lot of brides are always trying to lose weight before their wedding and adding a little comic relief can advertise this product without trying to offend any one.

I thought this ad was a little bit of a contradiction....

I thought this ad was a little bit of a contradiction. Cigarettes are always being portrayed as being a bad thing or hazardous in today’s society and this ad is portraying cigarettes as “the solution”. I don’t think the ad is that effective considering the surgeon general still determines that “cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health”. Haha

I could not stop laughing when I saw this ad. At first I thought it was advertising candy and thought the set up of the eggs in the hands was a little too sexual but then I realized it was an Axe advertisement and it totally made sense. Axe is always advertising in a sexual manner.

I never really thought about how we have all the pictures of different wars and how someone essentially had to take those pictures. I think it would be crazy to put yourself in the same predicament as a soldier for a picture. It amazes me completely but I give major credit to those who have the courage to snap the photos in drastic measures to be able to actually see what goes on in these types of scenarios.

So, yesterday I went to the mall in San Antonio and I walked into the Abercrombie store. I had never really paid attention to all their posters in there up until yesterday. It amazed me how sexual they were. There was a poster in there where a couple was half naked and the guy was pushed up against the girls behind as if implying sexual intercourse in that position. It totally freaked me out because a lot of young people shop there, even people who are still in high school and maybe even middle school. It made me think what kind of message is abercrombie conveying to today’s youth and how parents are so easy to let their children wear clothes represented by this message.

We are discussing cartoons in class this week and it amazes me how much cartoons have evolved. I am a big fan of the old school mickey mouse cartoons and would definitely pick them over the mickey mouse club show my little sister watches every morning!

So this is one of the new Ron Paul ads for his campaign. It is so funny how nothing in this ad is about Ron Paul though. It is all focused on Rick Santorum’s credibility of being a conservative. I would definitely classify this ad as being a mixture of hasty generalization, slippery slope, and attacking the person kind of ad. And to be honest, I think Ron Paul’s advertising committee should focus on what Ron Paul can do rather than what other candidates are doing wrong.

I absolutely love advertisements that have twists to them. This ad is all about perception. It starts off by showing a young boy who seems to be a trouble maker spray painting walls and coming home late but his intentions were all for the younger girl to have something to look at and acquire hope. So its midterms time and I definitely dont feel like I am any where near ready. I think a lot of students feel the exact same way though. We should definitely start making a midterms plan every year to be better prepared for it. On a brighter note though, springbreak is right after midterms which is great !

I really liked this ad and thought it was interesting the way they brought humor to something that is usually considered to be a sad event: a funeral. A lot of people don’t like thinking about the future or how they’ll pass away and this is definitely a good way to advertise what some people hope to never have to do!

In class we talked a lot about Betton’s work and how he tries to bring awareness to social issues through his ads. I think the focus on this ad is racism and how we all may be different skin colors but inside we all have the same heart therefore we are all one in the same. I really like how black is in the middle because african-americans are one of the most racially targeted race in the united states so this definitely puts more focus on them and somewhat gives them more attention that their racism issue is definetely something to be concerned about.

Lately I have been doing research on studying abroad and I think I have come to the conclusion that if i do end up doing I will be going to Spain. We had a discussing of gestalt in our class this past week and this picture made me think back to that. In actuality it is just two people jumping in the air together but because I know and am familiar with the shape of a heart I can understand that the purpose of this picture was to form that heart in between them. It also made me want to head to the beach !
